Macabre

There was potential here, I found the characters interesting, but they are not developed at all. And there is none of the scares they promised >:(

I cared more for the animation during the end credits than the film itself.

Notable for being Castle's first movie, Castle himself being only notable for marketing his low budget movies with effective gimmicks. I'm sure I'd have been swayed to go to the theater too with the ambulance out front and life insurance policies for anyone in the event they die of fright. But on a home TV, 60 years after the fact, this movie plays like the second-rate horror film from the 50's that it really is.

The graveyard scenes are great, but constant flashbacks slow the story down and drain out the tension. The reveal is less than interesting as well, but the film's atmosphere when it aims to be creepy-- especially once the casket is found-- is extremely effective. Needs a good remake.

Tons of fun. Suspenseful even though you know how it's going about 30 minutes in.

For a movie so focused on suspense, this is reather heavy going, even dull at times. It's commendable as Castle's first gimmick film and not much else.
