This is almost like a Sesame Street "Which one of these doesn't belong?" skits. You've got the always excellent Morgan Freeman, the coolest man alive Bruce Willis, amazing character actors Forster and Aiello, the genius of Tucci and Kingsley, and you've got dead eyed Josh Hartnett. This is easily his most likable role and not just because he gets punched in the face twelve minutes into it.

I liked the ideas behind the plot twists at the end of the film, but not only did those twists vitiate the character development, but the script contained the most circuitous contrivances in order to execute them, including the most ineptly-executed false protagonist I've ever seen. The "snappy" dialog just sounds trite and samey, and it doesn't help that every character in the film has the exact same diction.

Better than Josh Hartnett's normal movies but that's not saying much. I have to point out that Lucy Liu was tremendously out of place and I guess I'm the only one on the planet who thinks that she does look her age, which is 10 years older than the Harnett. With that said it's a pretty fun thriller film as it's got some great humourous moments and a pretty decent reveal at the end, though let's be honest the reveal was only a reveal due to artificially keeping the audience in the dark.

An exciting movie to watch, though it's a little on the predictable side. I liked the dialogue but hated Lucy Liu's shoe-horned in love interest, and I didn't really buy most of the character arcs at all, like what was Bruce Willis' motivation to do what he did? Some world class assassin.

A fantastic final act (that isn't near as unpredictable as it would like to think it is) can't make up for an absolutely terrible first hour. I was very tempted to turn the movie off after 40mins -- it was clumsy, it tried too hard to be witty, and I just didn't give a damn about any of the characters. I realize the movie needs most of the plot points of the opening act for the pay-off to work, but that doesn't mean they couldn't have been pulled off much better.

I thought this movie was suprisingly good. I didn't really expect it to be this good.. What suprised me espacially was the humour in this film. I really loved the conversations, it reminded me of pulp fiction sometimes. And I watched this movie 4 times now, and I really don't find any mistake in it. Great!

I watched this since I'd liked "Push" from the same director. This one I didn't like as much, but that's more the script than the director, I think. I love the shot framing and flow of both these films. The second half of this was a lot less enjoyable than the first. Also, seems like it's pretty racist and homophobic? Like, most non-white characters seemed like a bundle of highly dubious stereotypes. Fortunately, that didn't strike me as so much the case in Push. Will look for more from McGuigan

This is a brilliant script and a brilliant idea not fully realized. By all accounts everything in this film does its job. The actors are all GREAT, the story is twisty, the ending will leave you in chills. So why is it not perfect. This is one of the few examples of a film which was not allowed to be quite long enough. Fleshing out was needed here, an additional twenty minutes would have allowed some improvement.

This movie wastes no time in getting you involved in the story, while also making you wonder what in the world is going on. It's a clever movie full of mystery and twists. Some of the twists may not be too surprising depending on how good you are at seeing them, but even then the movie keeps you interested with the interesting dialogue, action, and humor. I hadn't really heard of this movie when it came out, but I'm glad I gave it a watch.

Lucky Number Slevin is not as smart as it thinks it is. The twists in the story can be seen from a universe away, and the dialogue is stylized to the point of incomprehensibility (which never occurs in a Tarantino film). Still, I like a number of performances in this one (especially Lucy Liu and to a lesser extent Freeman, Kingsley, and Willis), and I was interested to see how the plot would move. Worth a viewing.

More of a noir-esque comedy than a thriller. Star packed cast. Josh Hartnett was great with the unfazed, collected attitude about his mistaken identity, but I thought it was an obvious hint that there's more behind his character than what he was showing. Kingsley and Freeman did well as the mafia leaders who for once weren't cliche cholerics throwing insults at everyone. High production entertaining flick.

I dont get all the brouhaha surrounding this film Ok the story was clever, the script witty (at times) and the acting slightly above average, but thats is. A very pleasant surprise and in some ways quite a unique film. If Golden Age style visuals make a contemporary film look gimmicky, that's too bad for films that want to avoid gimmicks -- Lucky Number Slevin does not.
The dialogue is occasionally quite witty and even the many cheesy parts are delivered with a confidence that makes me give them a pass.

A pretty entertaining little action romp. There's a lot going on in the plot that ties up fairly nice in the end. I only knock it for trying a little too hard to be clever at certain points, a minor plot hole or two, and an awkward romance plot. Still very enjoyable, taking a few pages from things like The Usual Suspects.

I'm not sure whether it ran out of steam or if it just didn't quite click properly, but it ended up removing the element I enjoyed in its first half in favor of a more serious final half. I was having a lot of fun, for a while, but once the film ended, I took a step back and realized how large a shift in tone there had been. The humor was gone, replaced with an actual thriller; and the thriller that we got wasn't all that interesting or clever, especially in terms of its plot.

A piece of finely crafted cinema it is not, but let that be the only disclaimer you need. This is a quite light, entertaining thing that you could stick in the "maybe" pile of date nights at home. A tale of violence and vengeance nicely offset by some quirky characters in Liu and Hartnett. If you doze off a little or get distracted by some canoodling, fear not, it is also a forgiving movie that sums things up and explains itself all quite clearly.
