Loving Pablo

An interesting and engaging look into the fast life of the notorious Colombian drug lord. Javier Bardem was very convincing. Penelope Cruz was also marvelous. It effectively showed the allure of the drug kingpin lifestyle and brutality that earned it. It was interesting to watch with gritty details that were sometimes shocking and deranged. Excellent music and film quality. Good pacing and excitement.

Alright, alright, alright, so I'm a sucker for anything related to Pablo Esobar and the legendary times of the yayo, though I never used it myself *sniffle*. To be frank, this isn't a great film, but it does have its merits. Say, Bardem and Cruz who keep the story flowing and do make it an interesting watch overall. Bardem isn't Escobar, realistically speaking, more like an 'interesting' caricature interpretation, albeit a dangerous one as he is menacing throughout, let down by a so so script.

It fails to be realistic or anything but it's a good theater about Escobar. Bardem and Cruz are great. But yeah, it doesn't make sense to us whose primary language isn't English that they don't speak Spanish.

There is only one film about Pablo Escobar worth seeing and that is Narcos. And what's the point of doing this movie with Spanish actors about a Columbian, filmed in Columbia and made them talk in English?????
