Tonally peculiar misfire for Bacon is an even more peculiar (and vaguely unsettling) choice as a full-on family affair, given where this monotonous and unpleasant story winds up - the jolly, light-hearted tone Bacon chooses is all wrong for this material (replete with execrable and never-ending needle drops). Bacon himself might give the worst performance in the film, approaching his role like a bull in a china shop. A fine "six degrees of Kevin Bacon" cast largely wasted.
