Love Affair

Beatty/Bening's marriage was heavily publicised, but it was a mistake to think the extensive media coverage would translate into box office heat. The prospect of seeing them fall in love on screen again, a mere 3 years after Bugsy, was not really that enticing, and not even Beatty's presence, undiminished by time, could save this cliche ridden script marked by stale romance and contrived plotting. Willis' lighting is incongruous with the material, and the film is more dated now than it was then.

Warren Beatty should have hung them up after making Bugsy. Even with the subdued lighting, he looks every bit of 54 and then some in this film. Too bad he spent so much time in the sun as a youthful heartthrob. The story itself, has been told twice before and better both times over this.

I didn't think it would be any good and it wasn't. Boring as hell.

Embarrassingly awful for all actors involved.
