Lost and Beautiful

Marcello tries to combine politics and poetics with a magical realist and esoteric, elegiac attitude. However, I don't think that this structure works as intended: the characters alluding to Renaissance Italy posit a romanticism against the contemporary ignorance of capital, which is at best a weak point to make; and the landscape and narration don't transmit a huge feeling of transcendence but only an empathy with the buffalo at some rare moments. Bold but not that brilliant.
