Julián, Ramón, Juan, El Chato, Paco and Manolo are a group of youngsters. Until now, the only people who've paid them any attention have been the police. They're accepted as low class, miserable and have mostly been ignored. Juan wants to become a bullfighter; his friends mug people so he can pay for his debut fight. One day, one of them dies running away in action; once recognized by the police during the bullfight, it ends up being a complete failure. (en.peramuzesi.org.tr)

The plot is rather weak, but there are plenty of things to enjoy. Perhaps chief among them are the portrayals of street life and poverty around Madrid at that time--it's an unflinching look at a rough existence, and Franco's censors didn't like it (it was held up for 2 years, and around 10 minutes of footage had to be cut). There are some stunningly beautiful shots (Juan Julio Baena eventually won an award for his work on this), like a long pan of the outskirts of Madrid at dawn.
