L'oro di Roma

True story, interesting piece of history, and able execution, but not a very good script. The melodrama is out of place, including a romantic subplot, a Hollywood trope which seems really cheap to include with such subject matter. The story could have made for a much better film at the hands of writers with a deeper and more elaborate understanding of the cultural and human subjects.
