They decided that for the fourth film we would need a voice over to explain what’s going on. Movie I see a disgraced samurai that looks like Asian Neil Diamond, an assassin that uses her boobies to distract her foes and the baby cart has all the guns now ... I can piece this together on my own.

Good samurai film spoiled by a silly machine gun pram scene.

The weakest of the series so far, suffering from a less cohesive and meandering narrative to the last three (and the inclusion of a narrator and a choir of children in the score are unexpected). Its still better than most films though.

An average entry in an above-average series. The topless assassin was ludicrous, and the fight scenes were standard Chambara hack and slash. The introduction of a narrative voice-over is unwanted and unnecessary. Ho hum.

Tomisaburo Wakayama plays Ogami Itto, assassin for hire who is also being pursued by the evil Yagyu clan. With the help of his young son and his tricked out, weapons-laden baby cart, Itto destroys his enemies, usually in a geyser of blood. A wonderful series of six bloody chanbara films.

They were way too horny when they made this one. That and a sudden reliance on lazy voice-over hold this one back. Also, Ogami Itto looks scared during many of the action sequences now, which doesn't really add up with his character. On the plus side though, the core story is pretty good, the locations/cinematography are stunning, a little bit of the zaniness I was missing from part 3 came back, the stakes feel higher than ever before, and the action remains stellar.

We start Lone Wolf and Cub: Baby Cart in Peril with a topless woman covered in tattoos cutting down men with swords. Boom, I'm in. There's a lot of similarities between "Baby Cart in Peril" and the previous "Baby Cart to Hades." There's a pointless assassination plot, some interesting historical elements to Itto's past, and a unique element. This one's plot is about Oyuki's revenge. Everything around Oyuki is very powerful and I wish it was the main thrust of the movie.

Buichi Saitô briefly takes over the series, and he brings with him a pulpier tone. It's not one of the better films in the series, but it's tough to argue with topless female assassins, flaming swords and a massive death toll.

Maratona Lobo Solitário em honra de Kazuo Koike (1936 - 2019) filme #4. Longe da estilização brilhante de Misumi, mas cá entre nós, mostrar os peitos para o adversário de luta é uma técnica muito boa. Box Versátil.

More of the same, though I think this is slightly better than the 3rd film in how it all comes together.

The fourth entry in the franchise is directed by Takeichi Saitô instead of Kenji Misumi. The writers and stars are still the same, and the plot is still episodic like in the source manga serial, with not a lot of over-arcing story. And it's still trash, but I think I like it a little better than the previous film. There is undeniable magic in some of the action scenes.

The story maintains the basic theme of the series, with a few notable scenes and surprises. The half naked tattooed girl was a nice touch, although her fighting was mostly too quick and easy. A few ridiculous moments, like the guns in the baby cart. The ending was a bit worst than usual, he gets slashed and stabbed a bunch but manages to get up and keep walking afterwards without medical help. Still worth watching for all fans of the genre. Plenty of sword play and blood.
