Llanto por un Bandido

Not exactly typical Saura fare...it looks and feels like a '60's spaghetti western, except, of course, set in Spain. My favorite touch: for the first scene, Saura cast the famous playwright Antonio Buero Vallejo and none other than Luis Buñuel as bailiff and executioner, respectively - both had been victims of Franco's brutal oppression. It all suggests - to me, at least - that Saura was equating Franco's regime with the bandits that terrorized 19th-century Spain.
