For those willing and able to look past the absolutely bare-bones story and characters, 'Little Nemo' has some catchy tunes, eye-popping art design, and absolutely wonderful animation; one has to wonder how great the picture could have been if some of its once attached storytellers (like Miyazaki and Takahata) had stayed on.

If Miyazaki had stayed with it, I'm sure it would be up there with those masterpieces...

When you watch this and then find out about the troubled production history, you're like, "Yeah, that fits." It feels like they took a bunch of Kids' Adventure Movie scenes, put them in a bag, threw in a few genuinely dreamlike sequences, and shook it up. The animation is sometimes magical and inspiring, and sometimes just meh, and characters switch from pseudo-Bluth to Ghibli between expressions. And then there's Flip, the asshole with the weirdly racially charged design. A very odd experience.

Where a boy who screams during half the movie meets up with the Teletubbies to defeat Sauron. You can tell this was made by committee with too many ideas mushed together. It's pretty intense for the young intended audience, yet the storyline is too straightforward for the supervising adults. The animation is better than average, and it comes close to being a really good film (until the kid screams yet again). There's just not a real spark that holds it together.

I really can't stand Chris Columbus and this feels like his work. The characters are bland and uninteresting. The plot is uninteresting. This is a project that had input from a lot of people with pretty wild imaginations, and apart from some really interesting visual ideas, not much made the finished film.

I wasn't expecting much but I still felt disappointed. The movie feels a lot longer than it is and every thing felt slow including the characters movements and story. The voice acting was mediocre at best and a lot of the movie is very repetitive. I avoided this as a kid because it always looked kind of lame and yup the young me was right.

cute, sometimes imaginative, but severely lacking in a human touch or genuine sentiment.

This movie is quite flawed and, at times, is incredibly obnoxious. But it's still entertaining and unique.

I loved this when I was a kid, but looking back... The story and characters don't quite do the animation justice.

Unexpectedly faithful adaptation of Winsor McKay's classic turn-of-the-century comic strip degenerates somewhat in the final third, but is well worth the seeing for its top-notch animation and extraordinary realization of McKay's designs and vision.

Revised review: I saw this again recently, and I think this is a classic children's film--combining great anime-style animation with a solid story. The pacing is excellent and will keep the attention of many children. Some of the scenes may be too intense for younger children.

As a kid, this was one of my favorite films. To this day, I still enjoy it very much. ::thumbs up::

Solid fantasy, maybe too solid. with all due respect to Windsor McCay even Ghibli studios couldn't really make this fly beyond the known horizon. then again, it's old material and I appreciate a real adaptation.

I was really into this as a child, even if it's mostly derivative pap. But come on. Read that synopsis. Sounds pretty badass, doesn't it?

Although it suffers from a few Disney-swiped tropes of the day (an unnecessary and annoying animal sidekick, pointless song sequences), the animation is strong and it's got an entertaining and amusing dream-like atmosphere that makes it great for its target audience. However, I'll freely admit I bumped it a few points because the NES game it inspired is one of my favorite games. Also, PAJAMA PAJAMA PAJAMA PAJAMA

Fantastic children's animation bearing the legacy of a dying breed.
