It's a well-meaning story, but I'm not so sure how well-meaning it looks to modern eyes. A their Chinese cook helps mend things between a son & father healing their emotional wounds. Tries in its clumsy way to say we're all equal, well almost, and we should all help each other through hard times. While one can argue about its execution and can't deny it flopping at the box office, yet another one for MGM in '46, this was a pretty important role about racial equality Ching Wah Lee portrayed here.
