It's truly amazing how much humanity and emotion Hertzfeldt can get out of stick figures.

Lengthy dissection of a terribly awkward blind date. It has a few funny bits, but it drags for long sections and the awkwardness becomes annoying. Not up the usual standard of Hertzfeldt's shorts.

Going with the PSI here. Pretty dark and rough. Enjoyable!

Runs a little too long, and rips off Woody Allen a bit too freely, but the heart is there.

Not too interesting, with some parts seemingly lifted directly from ANNIE HALL.

Hertzfeldt's usual gore is on hold, but his usual sadism is in full swing. Ugh, again. Besides, whenever *I* meet a lady who knows that much about computers, I'm all over her. ROWR!

This is good stuff. It's very true to awkward dates, and despite being really simple it's pretty interesting stuff. The TV scene was my favourite, though, like the TV represented everything you could possibly be feeling in that situation.

Awesome short animation from Hertzfeldt.

Hertzfeldt wields genius with crudeness. This builds off his early ideas of scorned romance but more even-handed, and with a very real and personable touch. I became strangely fascinated by these bland, bland characters.

Woody Allen-esque film by Don Hertzfeldt. Quite different from his other works.

Predictable storyline. The arbitrary random scenes on TV were great elements to complement the narration of the kind of relationship they experience though.

The best among Hertzfeldt's early stuff. It has some real substance and sharp observations, though a bit low on senseless violence in relation to everything else he was doing in those years.

The only Don Hertzfeldt short that I didn't like. Too awkward and humiliating to watch, with a decent ending.
