Rodney Dangerfield's Back to School meets Lady Ghostbusters if it were written by a computer algorithm that thinks jokes are pop-culture references. Ben Falcone has to be one of the least talented directors and writers active in Hollywood today, getting work because he's married to the literal sacred cow of Hollwyood comedy. Hard to not give a 0.

Predictable comedy is pleasant and intermittently funny enough to be a jolly 90 minutes of entertainment, and coasts further than it has any right to on the appeal of McCarthy's comic persona (if you're not a fan, steer clear!) The supporting cast largely fade into the background as stooges for McCarthy's antics, though Rudolph is good fun, even managing to outshine her star in some key scenes.

Life of the Party is the kind of movie you watch on a plane when all other options have been exhausted, which is incidentally how I watched it. McCarthy does her painful thing and while everyone just acts around her, in yet another movie where she gets a makeover. Rudolph is awful, and there's an inordinate amount of pointless woohoo-ing. Ultimately the movie is a middle-aged woman's wish fulfilment, which is fine, that unfortunately misses the mark of comedy sorely.

I feel like McCarthy alternates between good and bad movies, and this was a bad one. A couple of funny parts here and there (usually involving Maya Rudolph), but the majority of the jokes fail to even get a chuckle.

The laziest, dumbest kind of filmmaking. With appropriately boring and cringeworthy results. I would go into detail, but that literally describes every facet of this movie. Also: The movie doesn't have details. Heehee. McCarthy's sweet-old-lady-schtick gets old pretty quickly. First and foremost, because her not shutting the fuck up for even a second is really annoying. Also: describing what's happening in a scene or explaining other people's punchlines is not good improv.

I was hoping to be at least a little bit entertained, but even a movie that I know wasn't made for me, I couldn't do it. The jokes were horribly bad, and while for a McCarthy vehicle and she wasn't bad, the entire supporting cast left a lot to be desired. Not an easy movie to sit down and enjoy.

I think this movie overestimates how much people care about Christina Aguilera.

20 yıllık eşinden boşanan 1 anne, kızının üniversitesine tekrar kaldığı yerden başlar. 40 yaşında üniversite okuması ve yeniliklere alışmaya başlayacaktır. Komik durumlar olsa da, abartılı komedi üst düzeyde. Melissa McCarthy iyi. Üniversitede yaşanan delilikler hiç değişmemiş. Filmin sonunda, annemiz mezun oluyor. Christina Aguilera sürprizi de iyi. Thanks for making me a fighter.

This film has a lot of talented and funny people. Unfortunately there are very few laughs in this comedy. The script is mostly predictable and not great. There is actually a moment that has a character suggesting to another that they should get rid of their glasses and switch to contacts. Overall this film is a miss.

McCarthy should stick to appearing in movies she or her inept husband hasn't written or directed as this is clearly not area where the excel. Didn't laugh once during this brainless excuse for a comedy

Guilty Pleasure. Overall it's an ok movie, but I really like McCarthy in this role. Rudolph and a few of the other supporting actors were also good. I mean its definitely not a great or even good movie. I just think a lot of people are biased based on how bad some of McCarthy's other movies have been. This is very much an ok and serviceable film.

McCarthy is sweet and funny (as she is), but I've never been a fan of these comedies that has to go to the extreme. *Okay

Much of the comedy is cringe-worthy, and save for that first oral presentation scene, in a bad way (the stereotypical mean girls are just awfully written and acted), but there's a few hilarious bits (see the mediator meeting) and instead of the expected mom-embarrassing daughter plot it's actually mostly an appreciable (if cheesy) thematic script about female friendship and mutual empowerment that strikes some good chords, save for the early makeover scene (be yourself! Just not with that hair).

Not the most amazing movie, but still entertaining. If you enjoy Melissa McCarthy being silly, you'll enjoy this.

I watched this two days ago and already have trouble remembering much of what the film was about. This one was basically mild entertainment to pass the time.

Far too many pathetic or strained attempts at comedy. In what universe does the super annoying recently divorced mom rule the school? Her character quickly became tedious and tiresome. There were perhaps 3 good laughs, so if you need 3 good laughs then watch this. As for the rest of the attempts at comedy, there was a lot of trying and not much succeeding.

Bland, boring, awkward and forgettable. The only reason this doesn't get a one is that I might have mildly chuckled once or twice.

Watch Rodney Dangerfield in Back to School instead! A much better version of the same idea.
