L'histoire de Souleymane

As the titles implies, it all builds up to a final sequence in which Souleymane tries to secure residency papers by sharing his asylum story. Considering how that scene plays out, it makes everything leading up to it ultimately feel superfluous, rendering the end result into a contrived combination of two different yet still competently made films. It's still worth a watch, for its compassionate approach and memorable central performance.
