Les Misérables

Albert Capellani's 2 hour and 43 minute version of Les Misérables (1913), captures the early days of screen drama, sometimes awesomely exaggerated, other times, overly simplistic. It bring the story we've since seen many times over, and that's been done better. Still, it's the first feature length adaptation of Victor Hugo's masterpiece, and it certainly captures the spirit of the story on occasions. Henry Krauss as the heart and soul of everything that happens.
