You can say that again...

Traffics in discomfort and disgust. Somehow is still boring.

Incredibly boring and annoying. So very awkward throughout. Made for movie insiders. It is almost entirely terrible and pointless. The only good thing about it is the name Lemon, which describes it very well. Frankly, if you can avoid this, you'll be better off.

It takes a lot of work to squeeze the juice out of this Lemon but, in the end, it is almost completely bitter with a bit of sweetness. The opening scenes were a perfect encapsulation of how artistic people speak, especially people who want to be thought of as artistic. It was had to watch. The scenes with the family were equally as strange but we do get some insight into the characters. We finally see some normal characters. It isn't until the last half that we feel comfortable laughing.

Finally, the perfect vehicle for Brett Gelman.

"Lemon" is right: it's a very sour movie. I'm usually not into cringe comedies, but I think I was okay with this one because it didn't shy away from its inherent nightmarishness.

I got some laughs out of this trip, but it is a bad movie that lacks humanity, where no two pieces really fit together.

So basically Miranda July but actually really good?

Is this a case of a movie being so good it's actually bad? Like honestly I think Gelman and Bravo focused so much on the art direction, music, casting, and characterization, that they just forgot to give all of it any meaning. Honestly all of those elements are 100% spot on, but the plot is so directionless everything ends up being entirely pointless and boring.

Oh god, what was that. A few pretty shots and maybe fleeting real emotional moments, but mostly a lemon.
