Legal Eagles

Before I watched CANNIBAL GIRLS, I was looking forward to writing, Imagine peaking with your first movie, CANNIBAL GIRLS. (FOXY LADY preceded CANNIBAL GIRLS, M.I.A. since). This is bad, but still better than CANNIBAL GIRLS. Maybe better in a worse way. The kind of thing where the big likable leads start to grate from the waste of it all (whereas Levy and Martin were unpolished nobodies who brought the only life to CANNIBAL GIRLS). Just a real dumb script. Matters more here than in CANNIBAL GIRLS

Robert Redford is very charming and lithe for a 50 year old, while Debra Winger was very cute with crazy volume in her hair. Daryl Hannah was inappropriately young. Weird seeing young Christine Baranski with a different accent. The plot was more convoluted than it had to be. Very nice NYC backdrop. Fav scene: Hannah's fire performance art exhibit.

Robert Redford is no Louis Gossett, Jr. I was very disappointed in the lack of dogfighting in this flick.

Watchable, but some of the characters don't work.

Robert Redford is the reason to watch this... I'm not sure he's ever been more charming. But try to have something to distract you when it gets dull. Pauline Kael: "This was the wrong kind of movie for Ivan Reitman to have attempted; it needed a director with style. Reitman endows it with the visual excitement of a Rotary Club lunch."

Flawed, but I really enjoyed Redford in this role.
