MAN I HATE RENEE ZELLWEGER. VERY BAD MOVIE NOT WORTH WATCHING. IF IT WASN'T FOR THE FOOTBALL I WOULD HAVE GAVE IT A 0.

Bland as hell. I think Clooney is pretty awesome, and I really do support his love of old-timey movies and his efforts to bring that style back to cinema, and in that respect, he achieves some measure of success here. But Zellweger fucks shit up like she always does, and even if she didn't the script here is just a bit too boring to really make a great movie out of. This isn't a bad movie, it's just a boring, bland, forgettable movie, despite its decent style and a couple laughs.

Enjoyable film. A few parts seemed to move a little slow, but overall it was quite fun. Funny, cute, clever and interesting. Great cast and great music and cinematography! The film revolves around the beginnings of pro-football, but also the war and public image (war hero authenticity). Not the best film ever, but a fun movie nonetheless.

Reconstitution of a perfect season. The film is light and well narrated. But it is not a movie that pleases everyone. It is a kind of humor very light, with Clooney doing his old type, cunning and charming, that gets well, in the end.

It tries to be a slapstick and screwball comedy, in the mean time wants to be a sports movie which consists of backstage. It sure has really good moments for each of those, but they never can unite well and form a nice match. Still a decent effort.

Though this is a sports film make no mistake, it is no "Remember the Titans," "Coach Carter" or anything of that sort. Clooney has made a film in 2008 that feels like a classic which could've been made in the 1930's, 40's or 50's. Undoubtedly that was his goal and he certainly achieved it. The film was absolutely hilarious and the style of humor reminded me of the classic "Some Like it Hot" combined (slightly) with his earlier film "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind." Bloody hilarious film.

Mostly forgettable, but the dialogue, especially between Clooney and Zellweger, is very fun in a nostalgic way. This is the kind of film that would really be helped if you watched it in a theatre full of old movie fans. Everything that makes a great film is there except a real energy. The plot was structured the way it was on purpose, but it didn't always do it for me.

The combined talent of George Clooney and John Krasinski makes for a shockingly bland sports comedy devoid of a single big laugh, with a climactic football game so dull that the ONSCREEN CHARACTERS are commenting how boring it is and nodding off. True, I've never seen that in a movie before, but I won't give extra points for originality when originality is so dull. Also, Renée Zellweger, fuck.

A very, very pretty film with a great soundtrack that had no direction and went far too long.

This is more than a period piece. It is made with the type of quick-paced witty dialogue and other tropes that often characterized the movies of this period. Basically, it's almost like they were creating a film that was made in the 20's for a modern audience.

Surprisingly good. This movie took its whole rather depressing subject-mater in a rather shockingly upbeat fashion that was just so much fun!

a charming story, i tend to love anything as light-hearted as this, it just impossible to hate these kinds of movies--even though i hate football. Clooney made some extremely wise decisions regarding his direction.

Just plain fun! If you enjoyed the recent MISS PETTIGREW LIVES a LITTLE, you'll probably enjoy this for similar reasons: Throw-back wit and snappy dialogue, the period setting, great production values, and some all-around fun performances...

The plot is clearly meant as a wistful reminiscence of films like His Girl Friday, The Awful Truth, My Favorite Wife, classics in that vein, though it's a bit more simplistic. It might have worked if every funny scene were not in the overwhelmingly persistent trailers. All four of them.

In order to make a violent Slap Shot-esque sports comedy out of a sport whose character has been erased by years of corporate polishing and Christian charismatics, you'd need to go back to the era before those things attached like ticks to professional football's meaty hind parts. It sort of pulls off what Slap Shot or The Bad News Bears did in the 70's, and the old timey silliness worked for me; however, there just wasn't enough 70's grit laying around to make it as effective as those films.

Better than a finger in your eye. It's a perfectly passable, if instantly forgettable, date movie, lushly shot by Newton Thomas Sigel and with a script intelligently versed in American classics like "His Girl Friday" and "Hail the Conquering Hero."

I didn't think it was very funny, which is unfortunate for a screwball comedy. I thought Clooney's timing was way off, like he just wasn't hitting the buttons like he needed to. I mean in the direction, the acting is fine. I don't think he's suited to comedy, he seems more at home in a serious setting. It gets much better as it goes along, but that first act or so is pretty painful.

The "calm before the storm." One of the worst films Clooney has made evidently provided the catharsis necessary for the minor late-career breakthrough he had in 2009.

There isn't anything technically wrong with this movie. I would even say it excels as a timepiece for the 20s as the style really puts you in era. It's just so damn boring. It doesn't really feel like anything happens the whole movie. I expected it to be more about old-timey football and the storyline regarding that was the best part. Unfortunately, the story focuses more on a love triangle and John Krasinski's undeserved popularity. A better script could have made this a favorite for me.

I was actually a little disappointed with this movie. George Clooney is an excellent actor and did a great job in this movie, but there were times in this movie as if the acting was just adequate enough. Krasinski and Clooney didn't seem to have that chemistry they should have. Zellweger wasn't that fun to watch except for the scenes she shared with Stephen Root. But Root was good with anyone in this movie. It felt too long, but I actually liked the climatic game which was done right.

Yeaaaaaa, not much to write home about. Decent enough but nothing strong. The tone is there, but it's not that great, its lighthearted reminiscence is fine, but can't live up to the potential. Still charming though.

George Clooney's the director, Rick Reilly wrote the script, this should be awesome right? No, this could have been way better, maybe because I don't like Renee Zellweger that much. Still has its moments, but it's an average movie.

Clooney is a solid-actor/director and he's trying to have some fun here, but Leatherheads is so very light, so very slight that I wasn't impressed. It's not exactly bad, but it's only moderately funny, barely interesting and too cutesy for its own good. The winking charm used to perfection by the Ocean's ensemble doesn't translate well into Clooney's new boring effort.

I went to see it because I was bored and was pretty surprised. It feels like a Coens brother movie, Clooney is charming as usual and does a fine job directing. It also shows how commercialism invaded football.

Pulleying an old script out of the bottomless well of Hollywood turnaround, Clooney tries to make this story into a zippy screwball comedy, the sort of thing Cary Grant would smoothly saunter through. Instead, it's a bit of a trudge. The pacing is off, the characters are uninvolving and the performances have a notch too much artifice to them. Clooney remains a decent visual stylist but it's clear he does best with material that inspires his focus rather than his playfulness.
