Pagnol's dialogues and Fernandel's stardust go a long way here.

A lovely comedy with the great Fernandel in the role of a small-town nobody thinking he's got what it takes to be a great movie star. Seriously blind to how ridiculous he is, only to have someone help him along as a practical joke. Shows what a talent the real Fernandel was. Being a French movie it'll talk you into a daze, but the dialogue is wonderful intelligent silly talk and will amuse you to no end. Definitely a pleasing comedy from Marcel Pagnol.

An only mildly interesting comedy that provides about one laugh per watch. I would suggest waiting until the greats of Europe arrive until you pay attention to French movies.
