A wonderfully visual comedy from Clair. The constantly moving camera, the clever editing, and the multiplicity of angles ensure that Le Million never lacks interest, even as it stretches the bounds of its simple comic plot. Clair employs near-perfect timing in many sequences, especially the chase sequence through the apartment building, the confrontation with the singer in the coat shop, and best of all, the multi-faceted sequence at the opera. Also, the use of music adds a unique touch.

Quite an enjoyable musical comedy of errors. I'm not really a fan of either genre but for the most part everything works quite well and the characters are all very charming and fun to root for.

I'm getting in habit using the words "charming" and "inventive" when it comes to Rene Clair, and here he does it again, with another delightful musical comedy. It's clear that this film served as inspiration for others, particularly the Marx Brothers. Joyful and sublime.

Relatively charming but fairly slight musical comedy. Pretty predictable but enjoyable enough.

A new kind of musical for me, where just the supporting characters (quite a motley crew) periodically burst out in expository song, with a bit of opera thrown in. Fun and goofy flick, clever and cute. The scene of the lovers on the opera stage was well-done in particular.

Cute musical comedy about the chase for a missing lottery ticket. The plot twists and turns but has clarity. The climax, in an opera theater, is an impression of the relations between money and art.

The chase scene in the opera does drag on for longer than it ought to, but overall it succeeds as a charming, lighthearted comedy, featuring some clever and inventive uses of the then newly available sound technology. Significant improvement over his previous film "Under the Roofs of Paris."

So many peaks, such a delight, never mind that is superficial and content with it.

É realmente criativa a utilização do som aqui.

A bit dated at points, but it was very, very charming and particularly towards the end the film became really rather funny too.

I found Le Million greatly entertaining. While I'm not a great fan of musicals, René Clair did make the chase for the winning lottery ticket both funny and exciting with so many twists and turns. A delightful production!

An early musical comedy. I generally don't like musical comedy, though I can recognize the technical merit of the film itself.

A delightful film that has aged very well. The comedic timing is excellent. Rene Clair's films from this era are incredibly impressive and influential - they largely defined how sound could be used in film. A nous la liberte often gets more credit, but many of the same technical and stylistic techniques can be seen in Le million. The rugby scene is perfection. Highly recommended.

This movie represents to me the quintessence of a french movie. Crooks, cops, confusion, singing and love. The scene at the backstage of la boheme with the two lovers making up while the two singers says what they're thinking is a stroke of genious.

Those French sons of bitches are so suave. Rene Clair takes a tale of greed, infidelity and crime and turns it into a delightful, consistently amusing musical. There's nothing particularly cinematically inspired about this film, but for what it lacks in technical flair, it makes up for with its charm.

With its delicate touch, perfect sense of comedy timing and infectious use of recitative and song, this is superb screen entertainment using most of the medium's resources.
