Gilbert is employed as the incinerator of used tickets at the Bank of France. Serge, his childhood friend, comes from a long stay in Australia. With Mark, the brother of Gisèle (Gilbert's wife), they will try to get help from Gilbert to steal the tickets intended for destruction in order to repay their creditors, manipulating Gilbert.
