At the end of the film, the son, at his father's funeral, shoots at the full moon. It's a symbolic scene, and also a really funny way to show that you are angry at werewolves.

The first time you see the werewolf you know you're in trouble, but later on the movie redeems itself with a really good transformation scene. Tom Noonan is excellent in a small role. There's a speech the werewolf is giving someone where he's explaining that if you survive a werewolf attack you become one. Then the speech takes a hard turn as he reveals, "I want you to know this so that when I murder you, you'll know it's an act of compassion." I sat up at that. Not great, but fun.

It's at the Ginger Snaps and Dog Soldiers level, but not quite at the American Werewolf in London/Howling tier. It's worthy of the hype because werewolf flicks suck 99% of the time, so even b-tier efforts are commendable. Oh, the cigarette smoke motif was also really neat storytelling.

What a misguided piece of crap. Just feels like some loser werewolf/old school gore effects geek wanted to make a movie and set it in a retirement village to "give it a twist" (or rip off Bubba HoTep). The werewolf costumes are beyond retarded. To the point I want to punch the film makers in their dumb faces. Side note: makes me feel confronted by my mortality to see Ethan Embry looking like he does 20 years on from Empire Records. We are all going to die. Don't waste precious time on this shit

Nick Damici's performance elevates an otherwise mediocre film.

The themes, plot, hard ass mc, and tone are too often at odds with each other.

Small-town Elven Gargoyle drama about a blind war veteran, coming to terms with what life he has left and navigating a difficult relationship with his son. It introduces plot threads it has no plans to resolve and forces muddled motivations on our antagonist that don't make sense. The action is a ton of fun, but it stretches the believability of what a blind old man can do to defend himself by quite a long way. Sticking with a single monster would have solved a lot of problems.

A lot of the stuff here is good; the plot is different, it's the main character is very solid and interesting and it's got some okay scenes. A lot is taken away by the movie dragging on in places plus the werewolf costumes just make you laugh instead of looking creepy and having believable, scary werewolves is kind of a big deal for a... you know, a werewolf movie.

The setting was a plus, but the werewolves were a dismal flop with their obvious suits bought from a rundown toy shop. The hairy suits were so fitting they etched the actors' fat round legs instead of thin bowed doggy limbs. Cheap crap. Wait... is this a horror flick or a comedy? MY SCORING: 99-96=Great; 95-90=Very good; 89-85=Good; 84-80=So-so; 79-70=Boring; 69-1=Forget it

This might be an unpopular opinion but I thoroughly enjoyed this. I thought it was a lot of fun and for the most part the acting is really good. The effects are good as was the music. The werewolf suits were a bit of a let down but it didn't really hurt the movie for me at least.

Damici makes it watchable despite being a bit slow, repeat viewings may suffer. Its at times almost poignant in a way thats mildly impressive for a low budget horror. The horror aspect itself is underplayed, and though i enjoyed the climax the creatures themselves will turn off anyone whos not a seasoned b movie watcher.

Late phases. Seriously stupid werewolf costumes, but i suspect that is forgivable as budget constraints, obviously not a mega budget film, but its still hard to get over how stupid the werewolf looks at times. other than that though, pretty damn good!!! i mean it set mood successfully, has a great premise, was acted decently (at least by the protagonist which takes up most of the film anyway) , this is a good film!. pleasantly surprised......god that werewolf costume is fucking awful though..

Nick Damici is great as grumpy old blind dude Ambrose, the werewolf transformation effects aren't bad, neither are some of the wolf masks, but the action scenes? A guy in a bear suit? WTF?

A drag. Takes itself too seriously to offer any campy fun a la WOLFCOP, but it's way too low-budget to be taken seriously, what with the silly rubber wolf and all. Plus, isn't it sort of a BUBBA HO-TEP knockoff?
