Last of the Pagans

Very romantic! Great chemistry between the leads. While not wholly crucial to an early movie being “good” it is very important that non white folks were used in their stories.

Absolutely a unique ethnic piece from MGM, using Mala & Lotus to front it. Pretty much starts with Mala kidnapping and punching his leading lady with a hard right to the head before love blossoms. The rest is them fighting off the bad white people wanting to take advantage of the island people. The plot is very typical when it comes to exotic dramas, except this was a rare time they used actual non-white people as the leads. Definitely sets it apart from most of the other escapism projects.
