Last Summer in the Hamptons

From the period I tend to think of as "classic Jaglom". He's figured (mostly) what he's doing, and is at his best when his characters are just relating to each other. Plot devices are secondary--whether by choice or the fact he's just not very good at them, I'm not sure. I was totally absorbed until it was time for events to kick in to wrap things up...the last 10 minutes or so are extremely unsatisfying. Maybe just watch it until then--the denouement is unimportant anyway.

A dysfunctional family reunion film full of characters suppressing their emotions. Not exactly an original idea and having them be actors isn't exactly a subtle approach but it works, thanks to their richness.
