Last Man Standing: Suge Knight and the Murders of Biggie & Tupac

While Broomfield has a kind of sleazy manner, he does better than most at uncovering secrets and possible conspiracies. But perhaps his real goal is to depict America the Crazy, and, delving into the milieus of Heidi Fleiss, Aileen Wuornos, Sarah Palin and Suge Knight, his oeuvre makes a persuasive case, to say the least. Broomfield's casual, messy filmmaking annoys many, but behind it there's an obsessional quest for the truth, à la Gould's Marlowe, which may be in vain but is still admirable.
