Welcome to fascist cinema. A pro-Franco film which won the prize at Venice Film Festival. The then called Mussolini Cup, which was awarded for Best Italian film (also best foreign film, which it also could have won as it was a co-Spanish production). Politics and war aside, this does make a good movie. At first kind of average, but then it went to another level which surprised me a little. So while a little uneven, there are some genuine good scenes in Franco-land.
