Great seeing Robinson in yet another type of role. He is thought of as a gangster but did so much more.

Should've been a bit more immoral, or less. The end result feels conflicted as Robinson tries to push people around in one scene, then makes a turnaround as a trickster who found legitimate purpose and feels remorse, just to go back to being his old self at the end.

Started out as a cool heist flick and ends-up like a feel-good Christmas movie! Larceny, Inc. (1942) takes you on a ride, for sure. Wasn't loving it at first, but it simply grew on me with Edward G. Robinson and the gang growing in their characters, with each situation getting more and more absurd. To the point where it didn't really need the violent end, for the change in the guys was really enough, but you do get a little of that nasty-period Anthony Quinn for the climax.

Really winning spirit on this thing. PUNQ nails everything with their review. I found myself cracking up just at the premise alone. Edward G. Robinson has pretty great comedic timing. It's like the bank heist version of when George Costanza decides to do the opposite of what his instincts tell him.

Sweet holiday comedy with a nice cast. That's exactly the movie Woody Allen would remake.
