Larceny

The slick pace and wry humour of this film serve it well in the beginning, but let it down somewhat in a rushed and glib final stretch when it should be tightening the noose on its protagonist. Dan Duryea and Shelley Winters are predictably great, John Payne is okay but not exactly the charisma bomb his character is presented as. Still, I had fun.

Lacks some sort of hook, but mostly well executed.

Didn't totally hook me with this Larceny (1948), but there was definitely angles to the writing which nearly did. Dan Duryea certainly added to the sleaze of the story, and the dames were the attraction. Not so sure about John Payne in this one, though.

A well-written conman drama with a couple of great performances from Dan Duryea and Shelly Winters in secondary roles.
