Land

The pace of this story is excruciatingly slow. The story is worthwhile. The imagery and scenery were beautiful and even majestic. The acting was mostly relegated to sorrowful mourning and disengagement from life. Worth watching, but the few highlights do not overshadow the near constant wallowing in self pity and the withdrawing entirely from the world. It could be described as a very prolonged depression helped by the incredible kindness of a stranger.

While it isn't a shock that this is Robin Wright's directorial debut, I think she does an admirable job here given the utterly incredible setting this movie has. I do wish she would have let more of the background shots breathe; even an extra 10-12 seconds here and there would have helped. Wright's performance occasionally dips into melodramatic territory but not for long; other than that, the performances are solid and the narrative is compelling. In a quiet year so far, this one stands out.

eye-catching sceneries in sympathetic story!!!

Impressive that Robin Wright directed and starred in this movie. Especially, since she's in every scene and mostly solo. Beautiful cinematography and a movie not afraid to be quiet and take its time.

Beautiful scenery, but excruciatingly slow.

This film does well in portraying a sense of wilderness, isolation and desperation. There's little dialogue, certainly in the first half and the actress does well in expressing many emotions in her facial expressions. It reminded me a little of 'Into The Wild' I suppose. I could only imagine how I'd react if I were in her position. The landscape is quite impressive and there's some good shots, although I wish they'd made some of the landscape panorama's last longer. Recommended.
