In this obvious forerunner to Hets (1944), Stig Järrel plays the mentally disturbed Latin teacher Birger Sjögren at Ringsala boarding school. A series of mysterious fires have taken place around the school the last few months. One of the students has seen Sjögren setting fire to a barn. But can he convince the trusted biology teacher Nordmark, expert of the criminal mind?

Swedish pyromania drama with Stig Järrel in one of his first psycho roles. The film keeps a close focus on this social menace, who skylights as a teacher during daylight. You see the passion in his eyes for his "free" way of living and it's quite fascinating in all it's simplicity. Not a super experience, but eye-catching nonetheless for what's been called a forerunner to the more known Hets (1944).
