Relatively basic documentary by today's standards but it does give a nice look at Cohen in his earlier years. The voice over narration is a be obnoxious and it feels almost like an early nature documentary except the subject isn't the Canadian goose or caribou but instead Leonard Cohen. Still it has fascinating moments such as when Cohen observes himself sleeping that do make this film a worthy watch.

Interesting record of Cohen's early years, those before he ever recorded a note, in which he wrote novels funnier and dirtier than Henry Miller's (though probably not better) and poetry that had Canadian intellectuals demanding he explain himself on national television. In one lovely sequence, the narrator speaks of Cohen's then-active romance in Greece with the immortal "Marianna [sic]" as the camera pans down a line of pictures of her pinned to the wall of his $3 hotel room in Montreal.
