La reine des pommes

Before her excellent DECLARATION OF WAR, Valerie Donzelli made this enjoyable little comedy about Adele (Donzelli), a heartbroken young woman who tries to rebuild her life with a variety of men--but things spiral out of control before you can say "orgasm". Oh, and there are also a few musical numbers, just for flavor. Donzelli scores as writer, director, and star, making excellent use of what were doubtlessly limited resources. Jeremie Elkaim is hilarious as the various men in her life.

Donzelli's directorial debut is ... amiably strange. It's the kind of comedy you never actually laugh at, but you are quietly amused by much of it.
