A beautiful, almost hypnotic meditation on the relationship of circumstance to the creative process. The cinematography is gorgeous, and the editing masterful. Juan Diego gives a tour-de-force performance as San Juan de la Cruz, aided beautifully by Fernando Guillén. As an American, it's impossible not to notice the resemblance--intentional or not--of the monks' habits to the hoods of the KKK.
