Pretty dry (none of the interpersonal stuff really caught on). And that theremin (?) started to get on one's nerves after a while. The last 15 minutes or so though was fairly gripping. And considering the tenor of the times, this flick was remarkably free of Cold War cant and attitudes. I was most amused by what was presumably a reference to the "missile gap." And note that the final stratagem sounds like a remarkably modern solution to the problem. Recurrent motif pinched from Tchaikovsky.

This may be the talkiest film I've ever seen. I was infuriated, bored, screaming in a fetal position waiting for it to STOP. Scientists discuss the end of the world over and over and over and over....while the audience gets to see nothing but labs and talking heads and ughghhhhgh
