Monotonous, irritating drama of juvenile arrested development intrigues for nearly 45 minutes, especially incorporating some interesting metaphysical possibilities in its mystery, until the emotionally sadistic motivation of Irons is revealed, and Kurylenko's sad devotion to his sicko game becomes inexplicable. That it is wrapped in a dreamily romantic façade at least makes it beautiful to look at, and Irons and Kurylenko cannot be faulted, managing some genuine beats among the contrivances.
