Brass’ intent here seems to be to critique fascism in all its forms, and to suggest that the only foil for such evil is for the people to always strive for freedom by embracing anti-authoritarian forces as signified by play and fornication. Hence, the ‘disgusting’ nature of this film, which is a combination of Jodorowsky and Godard with elements of Buñuel, Bataille and Benny Hill, but with characteristic Italian flare (i.e., excess). It is at the very least a risky and experimental film.

Feels like Tinto Brass invented how to record his dreams and let us all see them. Not flawless, but still it's a fascinating experience.
