Antonio Pane lives in Milan. He has a peculiar job: he works as a 'replacement', substituting the absentees from any kind of activity. One day he may work as a brick layer, the next one as a motorman and so on. Antonio is a deeply lonely man: his wife left him to join a man with a far better outlook, his son studies contralto saxophone in conservatory and tries to help the father. One day, while taking a certification exam, Antonio meets a young woman, Lucia, to whom he offers his selfless help. (mymovies.it)
