Obsessive exploration of a series of scenes, linked by a kind of pursuit of the infinite, but also by a kind of aesthetic intention that mysteriously blends animation and live action. The diversity and complexity of techniques involved is astonishing, and results in a highly impressive display of texture and light, seemingly also referring to paintings by Vermeer, David, and probably others. Rating experimental cinema is a bit arbitrary, but this work seems artistically coherent, if not sublime.

As close as cinema can get to alchemy, mysticism, and dream. In mystical traditions, degrees of being are believed to be separated by doors, guarded by initiation rituals that require repetition and devotion. The man of books undergoes those rituals and shoulders burdens like a camel, to finally ascend on steep stairs to the world beyond, the source of all light and inspiration. Along the way we see a cinematic angel, made up of rhythm, light, and geometric experimentation. Respect.

what I was awake for was startlingly beautiful... must watch another time not after an all-nighter; rating will likely go up

I has a very eerie and creepy atmosphere, not necessarily horror, but a deeply unsettling nature thanks to the lack of dialogue, it makes your skin crawl. The repetitive motions accompanied with the music enhances the surreal, experimental tone, it is certainly an interesting experience that´s going to give me weird nightmare-ish dreams tonight

A hallucinatory fever dream of bizarre surrealist imagery, which seems, in its scarcely discernible structure, to hint at an ascension beyond the immediacy and material concerns of human experience. Whatever it is, there's nothing else I've ever seen like it.

Has some parts that are best described as rather creepy, but all in all it's for a select few.
