Kusama: Infinity

All I remember is the penis chair.

An Interesting documentary about someone I wasn't aware of - this is quite an insightful watch about a Japanese artist. Its sad and thoughtful.

Fascinating artist, ok doc. The banality of the redemption narrative formula(neglect, isolation, suffering followed by eventual success) feels a little too staid, too conventional, too boring for its subject. It evokes infinity about as much as a video sales brochure. Yayoi Kusama deserves a better doc than this.

It was interesting to see the plagiarism undertaken by the larger names in the 60's of Kusama's work highlighted in the film as well as the honest retelling of her emotional state at the time. Wraps itself up seemingly nicely in a rare happy ending for a person who has gone through the rejection and troughs that she has.
