Very funny distillation of our collective '80s memories that wisely ends before the joke is dragged out too long.

It's Miami Vice and Double Dragon in a blender, with a side order of random nonsense, that lasts just long enough to flesh out all the good stuff from trailer but not long enough to get boring. The VHS tracking glitch is used way too often, but the CGI was decent for the budget they had. Here's a tip on how comedy works...Mocking genre tropes and 80's nostalgia: funny. Thor for no reason other than "Hey it's Thor, lol": not funny. A mostly positive mixed bag.

It is exactly what you'd hope it would be: The 80s distilled through the eyes of a Swedish child. I have to say I am rather shocked at the lukewarm reception you guys have given it. Plot? What? It didn't sit well with your Fass- and Chablis '82 bender marathon on your summer yacht? This was made by some Swede in his basement! Basement! Where's the love for the little guy that could?! I can't stay mad at you Criticker, but for the first time ever I am little disappointed in you.

All the best parts of 80s pop culture boiled down to 30 ridiculous minutes. Comparisons with (the other Scandinavian Kickstarter B-movie project) Iron Sky are obvious, but Sandberg has a much better sense of tone and timing, making this proper good watch. Acquired taste perhaps, but if you can't appreciate this glorious madness on some level, I'm not sure you have a soul.

It's not a dearth of entertainment. Has its moments. My biggest problem is it feels like one-up-manship of badass/funny ideas that when brought to fruition it ends up being less badass and less funny than the ideas. It also takes the path of intentionally being bad, which to me is much less entertaining than making a bad trope good (e.g. Black Dynamite), unintentionally being an abysmal failure (e.g. The Room), or by using the trope in the way it is intended (e.g. good 80's action flicks).

Approach this as a fun CGI showreel with a thick 80's sauce and you'll probably be entertained. It's not greater than the sum of its parts though, there's too little coherent story or reason to actually care for that. I wish I hadn't seen the trailer, there were only a few surprises left for the 'full' movie. Now I feel like a jerk for expecting, well, more.

I do love experiments with the ridiculous, viscerally appealing works of one's youth - boiling them down, concentrating their appeal, amplifying the flaws into hallucinatory stylistic flourishes, and exaggerating everything into a critical mass of signifiers. Kung Fury is a fine example of that line of thought. I have quibbles - Nazi supervillains are so cliche that even jokes about it are cliches, and the violence often felt too hardcore for the silliness - but let's face it, this was fun.

Quite possibly the most idiotic collection of random nonsense every assembled into a movie. There are a couple of moments worthy of a smirk or two, but mostly it's an overload of weird stupid idiotic garbage. Ludicrous plot, insane dialog, inept delivery, and asinine acting rounds out one of the stupidest shorts ever made. I think you would have to be stoned or drunk to actually enjoy this. It's only saving grace is that it was intentionally made to be bad, and so at least it succeeds at that.

Short and to the point, visually impressive, cheesier than actual 80s cheese, which is much more than I expected before watching it. The one liners and visual gags are just too much, I was cracking up all along in a way that even the funniest comedies can't achieve. Glad it wasn't a full length movie though, that was just enough of it.

What a wacky random movie! Everyone involved knows it's campy and silly and it's not supposed to make sense, so that makes its myriad of flaws ok. Right? I guess many feel that way, but I just found it kind of tedious, although it certainly did bring it's share of chuckles so not a total waste.

Spoof movies just aren't my thing and here is no different. I just picture nerds sitting around going "ha ha i remember this! omg so funny!" and then I lose my mojo. I get that Sandberg loves movies but why can someone like PTA make great art using his love of cinema and Sandberg make such tongue in cheek garbage? We get it, you grew up in the 80's. When you try to be intentionally bad and you fail it's embarrassing to watch

As with so many things, it isn't the world ending mega-fun-splosion that it's biggest fans will promise, but it is a remarkable achievement for one person and a shitload of green-screen. Definitely fun, and has several very funny sequences, but I'm really glad it wasn't any longer.

Completely insufferable and without merit of any kind. An attempt at 80's pastiche by someone who never experienced or even spent a minute researching 80's genre films, marred even further by "lol so random" attempts at so-bad-its-good effects shots reminiscent of 00's sci fi original features after they became self aware. In effect, forced and grating to the extreme.

I hadn't even seen the trailer, but just based on the genre doubted I'd really love it -- turns out, I was only half-right... "love" is certainly too strong, but I was surprised at how much fun it is. Despite some weaknesses (e.g. needing fewer non-Führer fellows with facial hair), I'm actually open to the idea of a sequel (so long as it doesn't make the mistake of being feature-length, anyway) and if none is forthcoming, could at least content myself revisiting this on occasion.

So, it doesn't live up to the trailer, but nothing could so I'm OK with that. It's just about the right length so the gag doesn't get old. I enjoyed it a lot, it's pretty well done for a guy with a green screen. I hope David Sandberg can kick on and make a full feature film with the same aesthetic.

I was so anxious to see this movie & I really wanted to like it, but I feel it failed to an expectation of the awesome trailer. hats off to what sandberg accomplished more or less with an idea and crowdfunding...all the while showing off exactly what's wrong with that approach. i won't pretend to know whether there was a script all along, just waiting for the funds to be realized. but it sure as hell doesn't look like it. it's more or less a showreel for a talented young filmmaker, random scenes put together with only the slightest semblance of coherency. it's basically just the extended trailer.

I enjoy it but I'm not getting the hype for it. The visual effects are great, the soundtrack is nice, the action is ridiculous and entertaining, and it's funny sometimes, but it just couldn't grab me like it should. Was it just too random? Maybe they didn't play it straight enough? There's almost too much winking at the camera but it's still a fun example of schlocky crap. I think I'm just kind of over a few of the things the net still loves, like Hitler appearing in everything.

Probably needed a less generous editor, sometimes the acting goes beyond 'bad acting' to just bad acting & I think all the nazi's are facing the wrong way when they shot the street fighter background stuff. The dialogue was genuinely weak, but for what its worth, the action scenes stood up. Left the door open for a sequel, but we kind of get it now. Brilliant as a trailer though.

A passion project of a very talented David Sandberg, this contains epic 80's cheese, puns, and Hasselhoff. Considering the budget, this was pretty well done. Kung Fury is an eighties-style action movie parody that from the plot summary, sounds silly enough. Once you start watching it, within a few minutes it basically veers off into surrealism with stuff like the random dinosaurs thrown into the short. It feels like something that would fit in right at home on Adult Swim. I don't think the short was awful though. It's humorous and the action scenes are well done. It does get a little crazy at times for my liking.

A fun 30-minute homage to '80s sci-fi/action movies that contains genuine LOL moments - especially in the first five minutes - but others that simply exist to act as cliché and don't take full advantage of the opportunities presented. This silly slapstick style requires the laughs to come thick and fast, which is the one area KF unfortunately falls short. The budget green screen visuals work well though, and I'd happily watch a full-length movie of this quality if the material was good enough

It tries very hard to be funny and it often is. That's what you'd expect when there are about 3 jokes/gags per second.
