An impressive Soviet silent film that would've been even more impressive if it would've came out 7-10 years before when rivaling silent films were still being made. Still, this was ahead of its time in terms of science.

Respect. Soviets had done it thirty years before Kubrick!

A highly unique Soviet film..... but flawed. A space adventure showing some nice technical originality. On the other hand the miniature models and the stop-motion sequences really did look like toys. Plus it's a silent film from the mid-30s, when just about everyone had gone over to sound regardless of geographical location. So in some ways primitive, in other ways brilliant. But it's definitely one fans of classic Sci-Fi will enjoy!
