Benedikt Erlingsson blends comedy, suspense, political thriller, action, family drama and musical with his own unique offbeat style. Somehow reminded me of some of the best South Korean films in its fearlessness and ability to seamlessly mix genres into a perfect whole.

A limited self-image of a white, left, cultural elite section of society.

a film that fundamentally doesn't get what eco-terrorism is and thus approaches serious political rebellion with a feel-good movie formula. this is like what mindfulness turned into in recent years.

This central story is intriguing enough, at times exciting and tense, but unfortunately the film's insistence on flirting with some very self-aware surrealism only subtracts and doesn't add to the film's thematic strengths. It overdoes certain cinematic gags so much that it quickly goes from quirky to irritating -- though the more realistic surrealistic imagery at the end comes out of nowhere, but suddenly heightens the film's quality very soon before it ends.

I was kind of disappointed that the film didn't dive more into the decision of Halla to continue doing what she believed in a little longer even though it would risk her being unable to adopt Nika if she was caught; it felt like this could be one of the emotional focuses of the film and yet seemed largely skipped over to me in the moment.

Interesting mix of genres, liked the use of music and the dry Scandinavian humour.

A highly entertaining story of (feminist) eco-terrorism in this age of the Anthropocene. The indvidual versus the State (in cahoots with corporations) and the longing for human connections. The landscapes of Iceland forcing themselves on the viewer. The joke about diagetic and non-diagetic music wears thin very quickly.

This appears to be a straight-forward story showing the adventures of an Icelandic woman who tries to block an aluminum plant from being built in the back country but, visually, there are absurdities going on in the background that are hilarious - if you can get the dry "Northern" humor. One of my all-time favorites!!

A treat to look at because it captures the landscapes wonderfully. I'm such a sucker for how this is shot. Pretty funny at times (the band didn't get old for me) but I wouldn't say it's that much of a comedy--unless the humour is just TOO dry for me to notice it. But the drama was well done. Good lead performance as well.

Incredible landscapes, the performance of its lead character offbeat. It is clear that Benedikt Erlingsson looped a gem of tremendous spirit from Kustirica.

Totally unfocused movie that can't quite decide on a story and instead just cherrypicks whatever worked in other Scandinavian (that band is straight out of Roy Andersson) or European movies, stringing it together without any overarching aim. Iceland is beautiful though!

Brilliant and funny eco-drama from iceland, it's full of action and laugh. Halla was like vandetta in the mountains. H for hanna, freedom to nature??
