Kokoda

Its a good illustration of how brutal the Japanese were and how unmerciful the jungle was to the 39th Battalion, a reserve force, who stood their ground to hold the Japanese until relief from the Second AIF arrived. Worth a look.

'Kokoda' does have its moments of brilliance. It feels gritty & real, & when it's at its best it really packs a punch. That said the characters are very nondescript, so do not stand out, or feel like individuals. Perhaps this is a deliberate ploy, but it ends up meaning you care little about the men in this film despite their significant part in the Aussie's military history. There is also some strange editing going on in this film, & it has an unfinished feel.
