This is my first version of this story and I felt that it really didn't pull me in to make the ending pay off.

A sweet love story directed by Heinosuke Gosho. There was something missing for me to fall in love with this version of the The Dancing Girl of Izu story. I just didn't get behind a lot of the characterizations in this one. The only one that made an impression was Kinuyo Tanaka as the girl in focus. And even with her it took a while until the very end to really feel a moment. Because it's the saddening end that's the beautiful part in this one and that was captured magnificently by Gosho.
