An earnest adaptation of the most popular Irish novel at the time, big on local color and scenery shot in Tipperary. It preserves most of the sentimental elements, a fair bit of the political nature (the book was by a prominent nationalist), and not so much of the constant humor of the original. Production values are understandably a little low, but it's alright, although O'Donovan does seem to rely on the tripod swivel a little too much when he can't fit everything on frame at once.

A 90 minute Irish film from 1918. Knocknagow is a very primitive film. Some of the shots even crosses the 'so poor one has to laugh' line! But yet there is so much of that Irish charm, simplicity and self pitying to give it a certain characteristic to become a pleasant watch regardless of it's shortcomings.
