In essence, "Knights of Badassdom" is an awesome movie that just didn't get made right. I'm not sure if this can be attributed to the reedit done without the director's guidance, or if it's Dinklage needing to bail early to get on GoT, or if it's just that the script doomed it to mediocrity in the first place, but "Knights of Badassdom" seems as though it should have been destined for a place among the greatest of cheesy garbage, yet landed firmly among the more pedestrian garbage instead.

Not terrible if you know what to expect (a handful of good jokes stretched out to 80 minutes), and are vaguely familiar with the concept of LARPing. Needed more Dinklage.

You love the cast. You've been seeing the preview for years. You can't wait. You have no idea how fucking lame this is. It is. It's fucking lame. The cast is so much better than this material that it becomes sort of offensive and maddening--like, don't they know better? Were they all just baked the whole frigging time, or what? It's bad. Amateurish. Wouldn't even pass muster at a rinky-dink regional film festival. Let's just forget it exists, okay?

The cast was the main reason I saw this, as I suspect was the case for many others. The film doesn't really measure up, though. It's not a terrible concept, but the filmmakers don't have the skill or budget to make a good film out of it. It's not very funny either, apart from Peter Dinklage. Some of the practical effects were cool, I suppose. But yeah, overall, it's not really worth your time.

Brilliant cast, fun concept, but falls apart in the delivery. The script hopes we think LARP stuff is inherently funny, but the jokes just aren't funny enough to carry the movie between mediocre horror scenes.

What can I say. I'm a huge nerd so I thought this was rather amusing, even though the can-function-normally-in-society part of my personality that has been locked away for years kept screaming about the movie being kind of a missed opportunity. Subtract at least 15 points if terms like 'attack of opportunity', 'Dwarven weaponcrafting' and 'bonus feat' make you slightly disgusted, even if you might not really know why.

A clear labor of love that plays up its slapdash charm, KNIGHTS OF BADASSDOM could have benefited from some more polish and perhaps a broader worldview. It's a film that will likely appeal to a more aggressive type of fantasy bro--the kind that drops the word "epic" into every conversation. As he is in most things, Peter Dinkage is the best thing here.

I heard about this last year and thought it could be fun. I thought wrong. There's no charm in this movie other than in Peter Dinklage, and his role is too minimal to save it. It's a horror movie, but nothing in it is more horrifying than its lack of charm (for a movie making fun of dorks with charm, see 'Fanboys') and its rampant borrowing from more enjoyable films like 'Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny.'

Such good cast and concept, such bad execution and script. But if you're considering watching this I probably can't deter you, because the cast and concept are both pretty great. Just remember you were warned!

Plenty of good performers are wasted by an unbelievably lazy script that feels like it was written in a few hours. There's a slacker protagonist (who's not even a real geek) who gets dumped at the beginning. Guess whether or not he finds a new hottie who'll instantly accept him as he is by the end? Then again, since this is ostensibly a comedy, perhaps the multitude of jokes that rely on geeks lapsing into current vernacular from their caricatured Old English will make you laugh a great deal.

It's fun but really felt like it could have been better. For instance, did we need a incredibly forced and illogical romance subplot? No.

GET INTERESTED IN GIRLS! STOP LARPING! Sure it's stupid, but come on, how in the world can you hate this? It KNOWS how dumb it is, without really going over the edge into being "TOO self-aware" (definitely a thing these movies can do sometimes). Every line Brian Posehn delivers is fucking GOLD, much of the rest of the dialogue is pure nerdy fun, chicks make out hard for a few minutes, people get their shit kicked in, and Ryan Kwanten is pretty good for his role. Not a GOOD movie, but see it!

I like a lot of the performers and I think there is potential in the premise, but it feels pretty unimaginative and cheap. There was a time when saying that it felt like a Tenacious D sketch might have been praise, but that time has long since passed.

A great cast wasted on a subpar live-action roleplaying parody. The script is nearly devoid of genuine laughs and the horror elements are terrible due to some of the worst effects and makeup effects I've seen in recent memories.

A stereotypical nerd group have an old book that brings forth a demon, chaos then ensues in a renaissance fair. The end. Just boring with no depth and constant mediocre parody of "nerddom" and D&D that gets old quickly. The film could have been more interesting if the characters actually get powers like what they pretend to have. Instead, they don't, and it's just boring. Stopped watching halfway through.

As a level 14 half-elf rogue, I couldn't help but feel a bit nostalgic, but in all honesty, I don't think Peter Dinklage is cut out for fantasy medieval/D&D style movies and media. I believe time will bear this out for me.

Rock'n Roll. Peter Dinklage. Neyin kafası bu?

Premise was funny, but it didn't quite pull it off. Think this would have been better if it didn't go the supernatural route and kept it as LARPers being themselves. Check out the documentary "Monster Camp".

I am happy that larping has found it's place in mainstream society. It seems like a strange basis for a movie, but I found that I really enjoyed the way the filmmakers used it in this movie. I like that they don't make larpers look like total losers either.
The casting was really well done. I really like Steve Zahn in almost anything he is in. Peter Dinklage does a pretty good job. Summer Glau was forgettable yet breathtaking. Also, I really like the guy who plays the antagonist in this movi

Peter Dinklage has one of the best lines of Margarita Levieva (who looks a lot like Jessica Alba): "Tis a cruel act of the gods to waste such a sweet backside on such a filthy beast." Not a movie that takes itself seriously. A great cast being silly in the woods.

This movie was supposed to be serious, I believe. However, having gone into it with the impression that it was a parody, it was hilarious. I would not recommend it as a serious movie. As a parody-style comedy, I would certainly recommend it.

If you are a LARPer, or have been looking into the activity, Knights of Badassdom might just resonate enough with you to be worth a watch. You'll be able to overlook its predictability, lack of jokes, poor action, terrible special effects, and non-existent characters. If you're indifferent or opposed to LARPing, the film will be a dull slog. Given that there's nothing else about the activity, I'm sure it will find its audience.

It was fun, apart from Dinklage though the movie was pretty dull. I don't really get the ending, seems like an idea you throw out there for fun, not one you actually shoot. I liked it, but it had so much potential to be more than amazing and it squandered that potential pretty forcefully.

More like Knights of Boredassdom! I hate when a movie has a great premise and then proceeds to drop the ball every chance they get. This could have been great if they had a bigger budget and a better script. It could have been on par with "Army of Darkness" but it turns out to be more like "My Name Is Bruce". Shoddy effects with a giant rubber suited monster and lame attempts at comedy bogs down the film. And Summer Glau can't act for shit.....sorry nerds!

Obviously nothing here can top that, but also rest of the cast and concept are a geek-embracing treat; that spirit makes this quite enjoyable, even if script and effects can't keep up at all. *Preview*: #14#, popcorn, story, cast.
