What is this? Its such a random production. Constant location shifts aren't enough to distract from the flimsy plot and the feeling that is another terrible action romcom. Tom Cruise deserves better, he worked with what he had and was the only thing I liked about this stupid movie. Also Cameron Diaz should just stop, she's once again completely off putting and is an awful screen presence .

Plot-less action / rom-com, made for the 40 something year old woman who seeks Diaz and Cruise as their outlet to a much younger self projection in a feeble attempt to reassure themselves that their lives aren't over yet. This movie is like an even worse version of Mr & Mrs Smith

Pretty much only heard negative things about this and cannot disagree more. Tom Cruise hamming it up big time and it is amazing. My dream is for Vin Diesel, Nic Cage and Tom Cruise to all star in a movie together and see who wins. The spoiler is that everyone wins, you feel me? The action scenes are well done and it's really entertaining but the plot is pretty thin, I mean it's about a battery come on. I love when a movie doesn't take itself seriously.

Knight and Day relies solely on the star power of Cruise and Diaz. Therefore, it lacks actual quality in the dialogue. Knight and Day focuses on cheap one-liners that are corny at best. Definitely a movie that one should watch only when stuck on a desert island and there are no other movies to see. And the best part of your day in this case is that there is no DVD player! You might just be the luckiest person alive...

Bibulous burlesque of the espionage thriller, wherein the video-game action, the hail of bullets, the blossoms of fire, the flurry of fists, pose no threat to the impervious superspy, protected by the patron saint of stuntmen, free to behave like a total sociopath, a textbook charming one for sure, but unfeeling, unconcerned, detached, absent. Cruise, playing to the crowd instead of to his "romantic" interest, seeks to regain his former stature by acting as if he were twenty-two again

An amusing little spy action flick with impressively aggressive pacing. It loses most of its zest and humor about a third of the way in though when Tom Cruise goes from crazy to Generic Action Hero #7562. I should note that I saw this immediately after The Last Airbender so that could definitely be artificially skewing my rating upwards.

Cruise playfully pokes fun at his eccentric persona, and is the best part of the movie. The humor is clever, but it could have been more consistently funny than it was. It seems to shy away from calling itself a comedy, and is more of an action romance. The action sequences are enjoyable. The only glaring fault is the overly convenient dispatching of the villain.

Seriously lightweight fluff. Mangold is usually a director of some skill, and there are a few moments when it does show, with action & fight scenes entertaining. Cruise outperforms the fish-faced Diaz in every scene, and the small cameo from Dano is probably the movies highlight. Essentially 'Knight & Day' consists of Cruise and Diaz mysteriously transporting each other long distances while one or the other of them is unconscious. It's a very strange and lazy way to shift location, endlessly.

While Cruise reverts back to his good ol' cocky characters of the 90's, with Diaz turning out a restrained performance, Knight and Day loses the fizz even before you are properly settled in your seats, from where, the movie drones on with humdrum action pieces in this bloated action comedy, trying to make you laugh at the same time. But if you love the leads, you will be merrily riding down this trip with a guilty pleasure. I almost did.

Action parody and bizarro love story. Through the eyes of Diaz' character, it's almost relationship horror: being around him is so traumatic that she has to be rendered unconscious half the time, and he's an ice cold sociopath but she loves him anyway. I'm not a big fan of his but have to give Cruise credit: his performance is everything it needs to be. The parody part follows and washes everything clean, making for safe escapes and deus ex machina. Smart, and with great action, but too neat.

There's not a lot of juice in the bare-bones script, and the title may verge on terrible, but overall I can't deny the pairing of Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz in a laid back action-comedy full of thrills and laughs. It's not as good as 'True Lies,' but it's about on par with 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith.' The duo may seem a little old to be globe-trotting and bouncing around through shootouts, but it's all gloriously done with impressive stunts and engaging actors revving up the funny.

Cruise, Diaz, an accomplished director, a decent budget: there’s no reason this should have been any less than mediocre. But I fell asleep trying to watch it the first time and struggled to keep my eyes open the second. I can’t quite put my finger on why it’s such an effort to focus here - it’s just so criminally bland and unoriginal, a dispassionate checklist of ‘lighthearted spy caper’ traits without the feeling anyone was paying any attention to how they came together in the bigger picture.

Pretty entertaining time-waster. It’s almost non-stop action with some romance thrown in, without much attention to the story. Mangold is a solid director, but relies too much on CGI. Cruise and Diaz have on screen chemistry, and the film seems to play on Cruise’s real life persona. Sarsgaard and Dano provide solid support. It's nothing special, but there's something charming in it's way to provide unapologic popcorn entertainment. I actually prefer it to the first Mission Impossible.

Knight and Day has a sizeable body count. Whether through martial arts encounters taking out 10 enemies in two minutes, wiping out dozens of foes in a warehouse by spraying gunfire, or by dismantling a freeway-full of anonymous vehicles in a car chase, Knight and Day is all about the action and the violence. It doesn't show much blood or graphic carnage, per se, but there is lots of action violence. People are shot, bones crack, and planes and SUVs explode as Roy carries on his own private war

So, for a comedy this wasn't very funny. The action was good but Diaz just isn't a good comedian. Cruise is also not very funny as well. I liked some of the initial action scenes like in the airplane and the first car chase... but then I just got really bored. Also, Diaz is supposed to be this ultra sexy girl in this but I just wasn't buying it. This was also some of her most flat acting that I've seen out of her. All in all it was a watered down action flick with poor comedy within.

If it had stayed as a romantic action comedy with a complete disregard for seriousness and emphasis on ridiculous action scenes, this would have been a lot better, at least if they had cut down the jokes about Cameron Diaz being clumsy and shrill. Sadly however it tries to get serious, signalled by tired plot twists, and becomes as generic as a lot of these American star vehicles are.

It's not awful but neither is it as good as it ought. The script seems to be hoping some A-listers would be cast in the lead roles and thus carry the film. Well, it got them and they both try hard (without being trying) but it's too much to ask. I like Tom Cruise doing his "I'm an adorable cock routine" as well as Diaz doing the flappy blonde bit. However, the pacing bottoms out in the middle and all the early momentum dies. Should have copied Mr & Mrs Smith more.

Knight and Day isn't a complete waste of time, as it's fairly entertaining for the majority of its runtime. If you can forgive a 20-minute segment that feels much longer than that where Tom Cruise isn't present, then you'll likely have quite a bit of fun with it. If nothing else, Knight and Day serves as a vehicle for Tom Cruise to show that he can still carry a film. And hey, if you can have fun, and Cruise can show off, you get a successful film.

The cast and crew are all above this material, but I have to admit to being entertained. It's mindless, but the action is deftly handled and Mangold brings just enough style to the proceedings to keep my interest peaked. The second act is a bit draining, but the opening sequences are highly enjoyable, with a surprisingly likeable performance from Cruise. Of course the third act is just action-movie auto-pilot formula, but it works well enough to pass the time. Terrible title, though.

Full disclosure: I don't like Cruise or Diaz much at all. But if you still want the truth serum I have to admit this overall works. Rather refreshing as this concentrates much more on Diaz's POV and leaves a lot of the Cruise action off screen to comedic effect. It's a bit slow to start but once the real action starts up it keeps up the pace with only a minor dip before the climax. Surprisingly clever script that doesn't rely on one liners to carry its humor. Rent to possibly even own.

For all the years this spent in production hell, it's emerged with a surprising amount of quirk intact. It's smart enough to play to the psychotic puppydog energy of Cruise & Diaz; they're both plenty old enough to know better, and their commitment despite that just adds to the charm. It pokes good fun at the shorthand of the genre, but ultimately can't sustain the energy of the initial pace and gets bogged down in weepy rom-com family nonsense. Fun while it lasts though.

Enjoyable star vehicle for Diaz and Cruise, who are charming and make a charming couple. Cruise in particular is far more affable than he has been for years. Overlength, and a needlessly complicated plot, spoil the fun when they give you time to think, but the performances and exciting action scenes make this a fairly painless way to kill a couple of hours. Also slightly marred by fading out during some key action scenes, which present hints of events which may have been exciting to watch.
