Kismet

Ashok Kumar as the first anti-hero in Indian cinema. Important blockbuster and quite good too (even through western eyes). The story is the focus and the main actors portray their characters well. It's all quite easily understood and it doesn't go overboard with emotions or spectacle surrounding the plot, which is something often happens with Bollywood productions. It's all surprisingly digestible.
