King of Burlesque

Warner Baxter is excellent as a show producer! He did good in 42nd Street (1933) in a similar role, but here he might be even better. He's got that tired hard-man personality going for him, but he's always got Jack Oakie to lighten things up as his gag-a-second sidekick! A undervalued Fox musical. Production quality is good and gives a lot of lesser known talent a chance. Add to that a story which works and comedy material which is is good and you got yourself a fine 30s style musical pleasure!
